Dr. Lisa Kirkland graduated from Hofstra University with a B.A. in Biology. She earned her optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) at Salus University in 1994. During her optometric education, she completed her clinical internship at different Ophthalmological private practice settings in New York, as well as the Brooklyn/St Albans VA Hospital with a focus on primary eye care and ocular diseases. Since 1998, Dr. Kirkland has been in private practice in Jamaica, NY.
Throughout her career, Dr. Kirkland has reinforced standards of eye care and forged relationships within the medical community about the importance of comprehensive vision care. She is experienced in the treatment and co-management of eye emergencies, glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and corneal anomalies such as keratoconus.
Her devotion to the community has led her to be heavily involved with the Lions Club where she helps organize vision screenings in the local community and the recycling of used glasses. In addition to her longtime membership in the American Optometric Association, she also is a member of the National Optometric Association, and the Optometric Glaucoma Society.
Dr. Kirkland received Senator Leroy Comrie’s Certificate of Merit for service to the Southeast Queens community in 2015, and the Patient Choice Award in 2018.
Connor Carmichael, MD is a family physician treating patients at our Harlem Health Center in Manhattan. He speaks English and Spanish. Dr. Carmichael completed his medical degree at Penn State College of Medicine. He completed his residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia.
Judy Tam, DMD is a general dentist who treats patients at our health center in Harlem. Dr. Tam completed her undergraduate degree at Stony Brook University and her dental degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. She completed her residency at the Brooklyn V.A. Medical Center.
Maria Pizzirusso, DNP, MPH, FNP-BC is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She treats patients at our Washington Heights Health Center in Manhattan. Maria earned both her Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice from the Columbia University School of Nursing. Prior to this, she earned a Master of Public Health from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where her primary focus was on health promotion and disease prevention.
Emily Brock, LMSW is a Behavioral Health Therapist. She treats patients at our Williamsburg Health Center in Brooklyn. Emily completed her graduate degree at the Silberman School of Social Work.
Colin Williams, DDS is a dentist. He treats patients at our East New York/Dr. Betty Shabazz Health Center in Brooklyn. Dr. Williams completed his dental degree at NYU College of Dentistry. He completed his General Practice Residency (GPR) at Peninsula Hospital.
Kendra Urdang, CNM, WHNP is a board certified Nurse-Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She treats patients at our Williamsburg, East New York/DBS, Crown Heights, and Lower East Side locations. Kendra completed her Bachelor of Arts at Bard College and her Master of Science in Nursing at Yale University.
