State of the Art Medical Care to Best Control Diabetes and Minimize Long-Term Effects

The prestigious National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has recognized five CHN health clinics for the high-quality and well-managed diabetes care and treatment they provide. The Downtown Health Center in the Lower East Side, CABS Health Center in Williamsburg, the Dr. Betty Shabazz Health Center in East New York, the LIC Health Center in Long Island City, and the Queens Health Center in Jamaica each earned the NCQA recognition, which is acknowledged within the healthcare industry as a symbol of quality.
High-quality diabetes care is vital in the communities that these four clinics serve. According to the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, between 8% and 15% of residents in these neighborhoods suffer from diabetes.
The goal of our diabetes-related services is to prevent the serious complications that often accompany poorly managed diabetes. Without proper care and treatment, diabetes can lead to many debilitating conditions, including heart disease and stroke, blindness, kidney disease, high blood pressure, damage to the nervous system and amputations.
We are in the process of applying for NCQA recognition for our other centers. Our goal is too have all our sites NCQA-recognized by the end of the year.
